TRAIDCRAFT UPDATE
Thanks to your generous support, the Traidcraft stall at Trinity has achieved
- so far- more than £500 of product sales. There is also
now a monthly stall during Trinity Toddlers sessions on Fridays which is
proving successful.
As the global economy declines, the downturn is affecting every part of the
world. Unlike the UK, where most of us spend less than
15% on essentials- like food -many developing world producers have to spend
60-70% of their money on basic nutrition. Whilst for
the majority of us , the recession means tightening our belts, for the many
Traidcraft producers it can mean their very livelihood.
Periodically, registered Traidcraft Fairtraders like ourselves, are offered
special promotional discounts. Any reductions in costs are
reflected immediately on our stall. So watch out for special offers on
muesli, Geobars, cookies and so on....
For those of you who have not yet visited the Trinity Traidcraft stall, we
sell a wide range of grocery, household products and kitchen
cupboard essentials. We sell chocolates, biscuits and cookies, tea and coffee,
snacks, cereals, pasta, fruit juices, tea towels, plastic
gloves, kitchen and toilet rolls, and occasion cards. In addition, we can act as
your agent to order items directly from the catalogue
which is on display on the stall.
Whilst many in the UK are feeling threatened by the prospect of job losses
and falling incomes, we need reminders that we are fortunate
to live in a society where there are financial safety nets, free healthcare and
free education that are not available to billions of workers in
the developing world ...and their children.
Please do keep up your support for Traidcraft.... it makes a
difference!
