Dear Friends

I am writing to let you know about the Rededication Service to be held at Trinity on Sunday 4 October at 11am, and to encourage you to attend.

In becoming members at Trinity, each of us has promised to share in the life of this church, and to be faithful in our commitment.  To help us in this, opportunities for rededication and renewal can be immensely valuable.  By remembering God’s hand in our lives, we’re able to commit ourselves to a coming year of Christian fellowship and activity, looking forward to all that God has in store.

This annual Rededication Service is therefore a good time to celebrate and renew our shared participation in Trinity’s work and witness. What’s more, it’ll reflect the clear signs that we’re on the threshold of an exciting new phase in our church’s life and growth…

  • the service will include the reception of five new church members;
  • it’s also the first Sunday morning service for Trinity’s new Director of Music;
  • the crèche and Junior Church will be available as normal, as part of our work with young people for which we have over 40 children on the books;
  • amid increasing calls and opportunities for Christians to engage with the local community to make a difference, the service starts a series equipping us for discipleship in the world.

I would greatly value your participation on 4 October at Trinity, and would be personally delighted to see you there.  Transport to and from the church can be arranged for you if necessary. If you have any questions, or if you’d like a general conversation, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

With every blessing

This year, the United Reformed Church prayer handbook – the denomination’s perennially popular collection of prayers and meditations, commissioned from prayer writers across the URC – is changing.

The team responsible for producing the resource is keen to widen the prayer handbook’s authorship and will be including non-commissioned prayers for the first time. So, could you write for the URC’s 2017 Prayer Handbook.

Of this new, prayer-seeking initiative, Gill Nichol, URC head of communications, said: “We hope prayers will come in from all corners of the URC, and are actively encouraging prayer writers of all ages, traditions and nationalities to submit prayers for possible inclusion in the 2017 handbook. If you write prayers – please consider writing for us!”
