Special Sunday service – 31 October

Next Sunday, 31 October, our service will be conducted by the Revd Dr John Bradbury, General Secretary of the United Reformed Church. This is a special occasion and we would encourage you to be in church on Sunday to join in the worship that he will lead.

After studying in Edinburgh, and training for the ministry at Westminster College, Cambridge, John was ordained and ministered in Liverpool, before returning to teach at Westminster College, later becoming its Vice-Principal.  He returned to pastoral ministry in and around Cambridge for a period before being appointed General Secretary in 2020. He is one of the three Presidents of the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe.

The General Secretary provides Christian leadership on behalf of the whole Church and oversees the departments at its headquarters in Church House. John is also currently leading a very important Church Life Review – which he describes as ‘an opportunity to stop and ask hard questions, and take some difficult decisions, that will allow the URC to become a body better fitted to the challenges of the mid-21st century’.

As we approach the 50th anniversary of the URC in 2022 this is a fantastic opportunity to hear from one of our denomination’s foremost leaders and thinkers. We hope everyone will make a special effort to be in church to welcome Dr Bradbury on his first visit to Trinity, to hear what he has to say to us, and to meet him after the service.

And don’t forget that the clocks go back one hour at the weekend!

The Bible readings will be Ruth 1: 1-18 and Mark 12: 28-34.

We’ll be delighted to see you – there’s no need to register ahead.  We are still being careful to observe some Covid safety precautions, (Click here to see more.)
