Isaac Harvey, a member of URC Youth and an award-winning vlogger, who was born with limb/pelvic hypoplasia syndrome and edits videos using his feet, has released a short film entitled For the Love of Our Planet: Fossil Free Future.
The film calls on the URC to divest from fossil fuels and shows the story of three church members and the power of local action, and the urgent need to respond to the climate crisis.
The URC is preparing to consider divestment from fossil fuels at Mission Council, after three synods – Thames North, South Western and Scotland – all passed resolutions calling for it to be discussed. Yorkshire became the second synod to divest from fossil fuels in March, after the National Synod of Scotland made a divestment commitment in 2015.
Isaac’s church, Vine URC, in Ilford, made a divestment commitment in October 2018 and is supporting a campaign for the URC to divest nationally. It was recently joined by eight more local churches which announced their divestment commitments as part of the Easter Declaration for Fossil Free Churches. Read more
